Changes to Cadastral Mark Orders

The Rules for Cadastral Survey 2010 that came into effect on 24 May 2010 have different accuracy requirements to their predecessor Surveyor-General’s Rules for Cadastral Survey 2002/2.

To enable the 2010 Rules to be implemented the Orders for cadastral marks have been updated to reflect the new requirements.

LINZ has also published two accuracy standards, LINZS25005 and LINZS25006. These documents standardise the way LINZ describes coordinate accuracy and ensures consistency across different datasets. Find out more about coordinate accuracy.

The significant changes that affect cadastral marks are:

  • re-numbering of Orders to reflect new survey Classes
  • definition of maximum network accuracy value for each Order
  • revision of maximum local accuracy values for each Order.
