National imagery coordination

Coordinated imagery procurement maximises national benefit.

Consistency and quality

LINZ works with councils, regional consortiums and response agencies to acquire and publish imagery of New Zealand. This ensures new imagery meets the consistency and quality standards required to be published as part of the national imagery dataset.

New imagery datasets are quality checked and standardised prior to publication as consistent and authoritative data for public consumption.

As new datasets are published the national basemap is also updated.

Imagery Aotearoa

The Imagery Aotearoa website provides interactive maps for more detail of the available datasets and surveys in progress.

Emergency response imagery

We work with response agencies to meet their imagery needs during an emergency to assess the event and inform recovery.

We are keen to discuss partnerships to help us refresh this national resource.

Please get in touch if you have data that could be added to the national dataset or are planning an imagery collection project.

We can provide support for the procurement and quality control of the data deliverables and distribute the imagery on several channels once the data is accepted.
