What is proposed?
The proposal is to assign Paekākā as the official name of an inner-city area in Wellington that includes Wellington Botanic Garden and extends to the reserves and facilities around it including Bolton Street Memorial Park to the northeast and the Wellington Cable Car buildings to the south.
The Board considered this proposal report at its meeting on 20 April 2021. The proposal is notified for one month from 27 May 2021 to 28 June 2021 for public submissions supporting or objecting to the name.
