What was proposed?

The proposal was to change the name Petone to Pito One, for the suburb in Lower Hutt.

Outcome

No change to the current name.

The Minister for Land information rejected the proposal on 3 December 2024. The unofficial recorded name of the suburb remains Petone.

Reports

At its hui on 30 April 2024 the Board considered this report on the proposal, which is updated with the Board’s decision. The proposal was notified for three months so that the public could make submissions supporting or objecting to the name change.

 
At its hui on 15 October 2024 the Board considered this submission report, which is updated with the Board’s decision. Because the Board didn’t agree with the objecting submissions received, it requested the Minister for Land Information to make the final determination
