Kia ora

E mihi ana ki a koutou katoa i te wā o Kōanga.  As we move out of Takurua, it has been a great time to prepare our maara for the planting season.

This pānui focuses on some of the practical mahi LINZ has undertaken, which includes a continuing focus on data that can support iwi and Māori aspirations with planning, climate resilience and hazard management including flooding, and infrastructure development.

We also have a scholarship available for those wanting to study GIS. Lastly, we are keen to receive feedback on our 3D Coastal Mapping project and LINZ mahi overall.

Kaputerangi trig station removal

The trig beacon at Kaputerangi Pā, Whakatāne, has been removed following collaborative efforts between LINZ and Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Awa. The trig beacon, originally installed for surveying purposes, had long been seen as an intrusive symbol on the site.
