| Background | The Applicant is a New Zealand company incorporated under the Auckland Airport Act 1987 and publicly listed on the New Zealand and Australian stock exchanges. The land is currently operating as a combined basalt and scoria quarry, and clean fill disposal site. The Applicant intends in future to develop part of the land into an industrial business park, including air cargo and logistics uses, subject to plan change and resource consents being granted which will only be lodged following consultation with iwi and all other relevant stakeholders. The main benefits to New Zealand are likely to include capital expenditure, increased efficiencies, synergies with the airport’s development plan, and job creation. Other benefits of the investment are enabling public access through the development of a coastal path, and supporting the Government's Aviation Action Plan.
