Clearing scrub by mulching

The Commissioner of Crown Lands has determined that the mulching of the dashed blue line will make it easier to use the land for pastoral purposes by significantly reducing the vegetation in this area for fire-breaking purposes. It will enable controlled burning to be undertaken on adjacent land in a way that minimises the risk of fire spreading to areas with inherent values and Naseby Forest.

Consent is granted for clearing of scrub, subject to the following conditions:

1. Scrub may be cleared by mulching. 
2. Scrub may be mulched in a line up to 4 metres wide on or near the dashed blue line on the plan attached. 
3. Where possible avoid mulching the Threatened and At-Risk native broom species Carmichaelia nana, Carmichaelia vexillata, coral broom and desert broom. 
4. The mulch line must be set back a minimum of 10 metres from the thicker scrub along the top of the Ewe Burn East Branch scarp. 
5. Where required, mulching is to be followed with regular over sowing and top dressing to maintain good vegetation cover. This may only be undertaken in areas where over sowing and top-dressing maintenance is formally consented. If following burning, this area should be spelled for a minimum of 12 months with the exception of a light graze no sooner than 6 months after burning. 
6. This consent may be rescinded or varied by the Commissioner of Crown Lands if the conditions are not generally adhered to.

The Crown Pastoral Land Act 1998 provides that permission to undertake the activity may still be needed under other enactments.
