What is proposed?
To alter the existing official name Shag River (Waihemo) to Waihemo / Shag River - a river flowing generally southeastwards from Kakanui Peak into the Pacific Ocean at Shag Point/Matakaea, east of Palmerston.
The NZGB considered this proposal report at its hui on 14 October 2020. The proposal is notified for one month so that the public can make submissions supporting or objecting to the name being changed.
