Reasons for decision
The Commissioner has determined that the proposed sowing of seed and top-dressing has positive farming benefits, and the conditions will enable any adverse effects on inherent values to be avoided, remedied or mitigated. Benefits include increasing the quality and quantity of grazing available to stock, which should have flow on benefits in terms of better animal health and performance.
Conditions of decision
Consent is granted for oversowing and top-dressing, subject to the following conditions:
- That sowing of seed and top-dressing will only occur within the areas indicated as being approved as shown on the map attached to this Notice of Decision.
- That, where possible, only a certified (weed free) pasture seed mix is sown on the approved area.
- That no sowing of seed or topdressing shall occur within 3m of any water race or within 20m of any ephemeral or permanent waterway.
- That all contractors and employees working on Hawksburn Station in relation to this consent are informed of these conditions prior to works starting.
The Crown Pastoral Land Act 1998 provides that permission to undertake the activity may still be needed under other enactments.
