We're updating the Landonline Terms and Conditions to make clear the appropriate use of Landonline by Account Holders and their Individual Users.
Under the current Landonline terms and conditions, we must give 30 days' notice when making changes to the terms and conditions. This notice period starts on 22 September 2026 and ends 22 October. Any feedback will be considered during this time.
The new Terms and Conditions are set to take effect on 2 November 2026. Any changes to these dates or process will be notified on our website.

Key changes
The current wording of clause 17 which regulates the use of Landonline is:
17. Using Landonline
17.1 You must:
(a) only use Landonline in accordance with these Terms and the scope of authority granted by the relevant Account Holder
(b) not upload or transmit to Landonline any information, document or other material that you know or ought to know is misleading, fraudulent, obscene, defamatory, threatening, invasive of privacy, or that infringes the intellectual property rights of any person or breaches any applicable law, and
(c) comply with applicable law relating to your use of Landonline and with any reasonable usage instructions we publish on our website, links to which can be found at https://www.linz.govt.nz/landonline terms (we will seek to advise you of any new instructions via Landwrap (our electronic newsletter) or email).
The proposed wording change to clause 17 will be:
17. Using Landonline
17.1 You must:
(a) only use your Landonline account in the ordinary course of the business or occupation as described in the relevant Account Holder’s application as approved by the Chief Executive in 2.1 (b)
(b) only use your Landonline account in accordance with these Terms and the scope of authority granted by the relevant Account Holder
(c) not upload or transmit to Landonline any information, document or other material that you know or ought to know is misleading, fraudulent, obscene, defamatory, threatening, invasive of privacy, or that infringes the intellectual property rights of any person or breaches any applicable law, and
(d) comply with applicable law relating to your use of Landonline, and the information you obtain from it, and with any reasonable usage instructions we publish on our website, links to which can be found at https://www.linz.govt.nz/landonline-terms (we will seek to advise you of any new instructions via Landwrap (our electronic newsletter) or email).
17.2 You will not use your Landonline account to provide or enable any search or enquiry service that permits searches by a third party who is not an individual user under these terms
