What was proposed?

The proposal was to alter Kaputone Creek to Kā Pūtahi and make it the official name of the stream that flows from near the intersection of Johns Road and State Highway 1 at Belfast into Styx River in Christchurch.

Kaputone Creek was officially altered to Kā Pūtahi.

Report

At its hui on 15 October 2024 the Board considered this report on the proposal. The proposal is notified for one month so that the public can make submissions supporting or objecting to the proposed name.

At its hui on 31 March 2025 the Board considered this report on the submissions, which is updated with the Board’s decision. Because the Board didn’t agree with the objecting submission it received for Kā Pūtahi, it requested the Minister for Land Information to make the final determination.
