What was proposed?

The proposal was to change the name Takanini Railway Station to Takaanini Railway Station, for the railway station that serves the suburb of Takaanini (proposed) in Auckland between Manurewa and Papakura.

Outcome

No change to the current official name.

The Minister for Land information rejected the proposal on 3 December 2024. The official name remains Takanini Railway Station (official by New Zealand Gazette 16 November 1950, No. 70, page 1989).

At its hui on 30 April 2024 the Board considered this proposal report on the proposal, which is updated with the Board’s decision. The proposal was notified for three months so that the public could make submissions supporting or objecting to the proposal.

 

At its hui on 15 October 2024 the Board considered this submission report, which is updated with the Board’s decision. Because the Board didn’t agree with the objecting submissions received, it requested the Minister for Land Information to make the final determination.
