What is proposed?
The proposal is to make Te Tōangaroa the official name of an unnamed area on Auckland’s waterfront. The proposed new name will partially cover the Auckland CBD, Parnell and Mechanics Bay, but will not replace them.
What happens next?
The Board will consider the submissions received for this proposal at its next hui on 15 October 2024. The outcome of that consideration will be that either the Board itself or the Minister for Land Information will make the final decision. This page will be updated when the final decision is made.

At its hui on 30 April 2024 the Board considered this report, which is updated with the Board’s decision. The proposal is notified for one month so that the public can make submissions supporting or objecting to the proposal.
