Search survey

Search for a survey by survey number, or by surveyor’s name or user ID.

You can search for surveys in Web Search by:

  • Survey number
  • Surveyor.

Once you have searched for a survey, you can:

  • view order options for the survey
  • display survey work spatially on the map
  • add the survey to an XML data extraction
  • add the survey to your product list
  • view the survey summary with details such as surveyor, purpose, survey dates etc.
  • view and locate related parcels
  • view and order the survey’s supporting documents
  • view referenced surveys. 

When you search by surveyor, you can also export a list of the search results as a CSV file. 

Search survey by survey number

1. Enter the survey number into the search field

You must enter the exact survey number as this field does not support best match. Any survey plans with the same number will appear in the list.

You do not need to include the survey plan type code. However, if you don’t include it, all pre-Landonline surveys with the same record number will appear in the drop-down list. For more specific results, include the prefix.

2. Select the survey from the drop-down list to view the survey summary page

For pre-Landonline surveys, ensure you select the survey you need from the correct land district.

Search survey by surveyor

1. Enter the surveyor’s name or user ID into the search field

You can enter the surveyor’s user ID, last name, or first name.

You will get best results entering a user ID. You will not get any results if you enter a full name, for example “Philip Smith”, or “Smith, Philip”.

You can’t use wildcards for Search survey by surveyor.

As you type, the drop-down list populates with results containing the best match. As you enter more characters, the results are refined to match your input.

2. Select the surveyor's name from the drop-down list to view the search results

The top of the Search results screen shows:  

  • what you searched for  
  • the number of records found for that search.  

Below, you will see a list of the selected surveyor’s surveys.

Each survey in the list shows:

  • Survey number
  • Description
  • Purpose
  • Status
  • Land District
  • Lodged date.

a. Left-click the Survey number to view the survey summary page.  

b. Select Locate Survey Reference to locate the survey reference on the map.  

c. Select Add to product list to add the survey to your product list.

Export CSV file of search results

Select the Export search results icon at the top right of the list.

Enter the email address you want the CSV file sent to, then select Email.

Refine search or search results

You can use search filters to refine your search or search results. You can filter by:

  • Land district
  • Survey purpose
  • Date range.

Use as many of these filters as you need.

Left-click the Land District and Survey Purpose filters to open their drop-down menu. Select the check-box next to each value you require, or choose All.

Enter a From date and/or To date. You can either:

  • type the date in dd/mm/yyyy format
  • click on the calendar icon and select a date.

Once you have selected your filters, left-click Apply filters to refine your search.

To reset all filters (for example, if you want to change or broaden your filter criteria), select Reset filters, then Apply filters to reset your search.

Survey summary page

The survey summary page does not constitute a survey plan. To obtain the survey plan, select one of the order options.

Select the:

  • Locate spatial item icon to view the survey reference on the map (if it is spatially defined in Landonline)
  • Add to display survey work icon to view the survey spatially on the map
  • Add to survey data extraction icon to add the survey to an XML extraction
  • Add to product list icon to add the survey to your product list.

Order options

You can order the survey plan without adding it to your product list.

Depending on the survey, you can choose from:

  • Digital Title Plan  
  • Digital Survey Plan
  • Survey Plan  
  • Title Plan
  • Imperial Plan  
  • Imperial Plan (Colour)

You will only be charged once when ordering a Digital Survey Plan AND Digital Title Plan or Survey Plan AND Title Plan for the same survey, on the same day, with the same client reference. However, Imperial Plan and Imperial Plan (Colour) are 2 different items so will incur separate fees.

Select an icon to order the survey plan:

a. emailed to you 
b. to view on screen 
c. downloaded as PDF. 

Multi-file formats for survey plans

You can choose between file format options for survey plans:

  • PDF
  • JPG – available only for 1-page plans
  • TIFF – not available for Imperial Plan (Colour).

TIFF and JPG are currently unavailable for plans registered after 17 May 2026. We are working to have a solution for plans registered after this date in the future.

The available options for each plan type are viewable under Order options on the summary page.

You can also change the format from the checkout summary panel.

You will only be charged once when you order multiple file formats for the same survey plan, on the same day, with the same client reference.

Viewing TIFF files

If you can only view the first page of a TIFF file, you may need to change your default TIFF viewer.

Survey Information, Survey Details, and Survey Dates

You can view information about the survey on the summary page.

The Survey Information panel shows:

  • Survey number
  • Surveyor  

The Survey Details panel shows:

  • Dataset description
  • Purpose  
  • Status  
  • Land district

The Survey Dates panel lists dates relevant to the survey, such as the date the survey was completed, approved, and registered (deposited).

Pre-Landonline plans will have incomplete information in these panels. You may need to order the plan to view more survey details about the survey.

Parcels

This panel lists all parcels created, referenced, or extinguished by this survey.

You can:

  • left-click a Parcel ID to view the parcel summary page
  • view the Appellation, current Status, and Land District for each parcel
  • select the Locate spatial item icon to view the parcel on the map (for parcels spatially defined in Landonline)  
  • select the Add to product list icon to add the parcel to your product list.

You can view a Related title for a parcel from either the parcel summary page or once you have added the parcel to the product list.

Supporting Documents

You can order supporting documents from the survey summary page if they are listed.  

Select an icon to order the supporting document:

  • emailed to you
  • to view on screen
  • downloaded as PDF.

Referenced Surveys

This panel lists the surveys used to create the selected survey.  

You can:

  • left-click a Survey Number to view the survey summary page
  • select the Locate spatial item icon to view the survey reference on the map
  • select the Add to display survey work icon to view the survey spatially on the map
  • select the Add to survey data extraction icon to add the survey to an XML extraction
  • select the Add to product list icon to add the survey to your product list.
