Work to remove unsafe trees in Alexandra and Clyde will begin tomorrow.

Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (LINZ), which manages the Crown land the trees are on, is leading the work.

The tree removal will take three days to complete, weather dependent.

The work will take place on popular walkways along the Clutha River/Mata-Au and Manuherikia River.

LINZ Leader – Land and Waterways Lee Farnhill says that ensuring the safety of the public is our top priority, and as the trees have been identified as a potential risk to the public they need to be removed.

“This work is a continuation of tree removals along the Clutha River/Mata-Au in December. At that time, we prioritised removing the most damaged trees and this work will clear the remaining trees that have been identified as a potential risk.”
