Legacy Landonline switch off
We’ve hit another major milestone this week with a number of Dealings firms (legal and conveyancing) switching off Legacy and working completely in New Landonline. Happily, this has gone well, with all of these firms operating successfully. This follows Search only firms, Councils and Territorial Authorities also switching off Legacy in the past few weeks too.
Ahead we have more of you fully switching over to new Landonline:
- Dealings firms (legal and conveyancing) between 3 to 12 March 2025
- Survey firms from late April 2025.
For more information on the remaining pieces of functionality to be migrated to New Landonline, see:

New Landonline Survey: Plan Generation Pilot
Plan Generation has been in pilot since the 4th of February with 98 users from six different survey firms. Pilot users have provided valuable feedback that has helped inform development and will result in improved functionality. We anticipate the pilot will be wrapped up and new Plan Generation will be available for all surveyors in late April.
Once you have access to the new Plan Generation application, you can use it to draft new plans or continue drafting plans you have already started in Legacy Landonline.
New Landonline Web Search releases
Keep an eye out in Web Search for the following new functionality:
Coordinate transformation
In Web Search you will be able to prepare and run a transformation to convert coordinates for Landonline marks from NZGD 2000 into another coordinate system.
You’ll be able to access Coordinate transformation from the Survey data extraction tool in the Map control toolbar, and the transformation will be saved to your computer as a CSV file.
Search vectors and lines by feature ID
You will be able to search vectors and lines by feature ID and locate them in the spatial view.
Land Districts Layer
A new layer – Land districts layer will be added to Web Search to support your understanding of where the different land districts lie, and which spatial objects fall within their bounds.

Search for a title by registered owner using wildcards
You can now access different search modes when searching for a title by registered owner in Web Search:
Closest Match (default)
This method is our current approach, using auto-fill and best-matching to find names quickly.
Given/ Family Name or Corporate Name
You will be able to use wildcards to help when searching for a title by individual or corporate names.
When searching using wildcards:
- an asterisk can be used to represent any number of missing characters in a search
- a question mark can be used to represent 1 missing character in your search
