Public submissions now open on Public Works Amendment Bill

The Public Works Amendment Bill had its first reading in Parliament on 11 December 2025:

In 2024, the Government initiated a review of the Public Works Act to identify improvements that would better facilitate the delivery of infrastructure in New Zealand, while balancing private property rights and maintaining the fundamental principles of the regime.

The Transport and Infrastructure Committee is calling for public submissions on the Bill, closing 27 January 2026:

The Committee is due to report back to Parliament by 14 May 2026.
