Windows 10 is no longer supported as of 14 October 2025
Microsoft has stopped providing technical help, feature updates and security fixes for Windows 10. While devices still operate with unsupported systems, they are more vulnerable to threats.
Landonline is web-based, so keeping your browser updated is important for access. It's possible that future enhancements to Landonline will rely on an updated operating system. Upgrading now provides peace of mind and ensures long-term compatibility with Landonline.
We strongly recommend upgrading to Windows 11 for improved security and futureproofing. If you're still on Windows 10 and concerned for your security, you can check with your IT provider whether your firm is enrolled in Microsoft’s Extended Security Updates (ESU) programme, which provides further updates for Windows 10 until 13 October 2026.

Webinar replay: Limited Title Surveys: Introduction to updated guidance
Our recent webinar on the updated guidance on surveys of Limited Titles is now available online.
Join Assistant Surveyors-General Lloyd McGarvey and Karl Wilton for an introduction to the updated cadastral survey guidance to remove limitations, including when long-standing occupation can take precedence over title dimensions, and how new residue parcels can be created where evidence supports an adverse possession claim.
Watch the webinar here: Limited title surveys webinar: Introduction to updated guidance
While this webinar focused on the updated guidance from a surveyor perspective, anyone who works with Limited Titles might find it valuable.
Changes to the Landonline login page landing page
The Landonline login landing page shows Landonline availability and urgent alerts. This uses old technology that’s no longer supported, so we need to update it.
We’re planning a long-term solution for the messaging needs of Landonline, but in the meantime we’re replacing it with a simpler, temporary option.
What’s changing?
From 5 December:
- The ‘Landonline is available/unavailable’ notification in the green banner will be removed.
- The Message centre and any displayed alerts will appear in the green banner instead
- The login buttons will be always visible. Users are instead notified of Landonline availability once they visit the app.landonline.govt.nz login page.
Information about business hours, current processing times, and support resources remains the same.
Before
After - as of 5 December 2025
We’ll notify you via Landwrap when the next updates are due to be released.
Accretion and Erosion Guideline published
The Registrar-General of Land has published the Accretion and Erosion Guideline 2025 – LINZ OP G 01319.
The guideline sets out how landowners may apply to have their record of title updated where accretion or erosion has occurred, in accordance with section 21(1)(c) of the Land Transfer Act 2017. It updates and replaces the Accretion and Erosion Guideline 2019.
We consulted with key stakeholders on the proposed changes to the guideline, with feedback indicating support for the way the guideline has been updated and simplified.
To supplement the guideline, our web guidance on accretion and erosion has also been updated. The guidance includes information about:
- how to provide adjoining owner names and addresses using the Landonline Request functionality, and
- how the Registrar considers submissions and objections.
Form 3 of the Approved Forms has also been updated. Landowners can use the new form when making an application for a new record of title that incorporates accretion and/or excludes erosion.

Web Search releases
Filter vectors
Landonline users can now filter cadastral vectors in Web Search.
Vectors can be filtered by survey number, vector length, date range, observation type, vector class, and equipment type.
For information on how to access Filter Vectors, see: Filter vectors
New Request type in Landonline
Adjoining Owner Notice request type is now available. Early service of notice on adjoining owners can be requested for removal of limitations from a record of title limited as to parcels. If submitting this type of request it should be submitted post approval of the relevant CSD, and can be submitted prior to lodgement of the title dealing.
For more information, see: Limited title surveys
Prescription for surveys of Customary Marine Titles
The Surveyor-General has recently published the prescription to be used by surveyors preparing a survey plan to support a recognition order for customary marine title under section 109(4) Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Act 2011.
The prescription advises surveyors to consult with the Office of the Surveyor-General before preparing such a CSD so that any issues can be collaboratively resolved.
