What is proposed?

The seven proposals are to assign as official, locally used geographic names, located at Hobsonville, Auckland: Bruce Point, Cochrane Gully, Gunn Point, Isitt Gully, Launch Bay, Monterey Park and Pottery Creek.

At its hui on 30 April 2026 the Board considered this report which included the seven proposals (plus nine other proposals considered separately). The seven proposals are notified for two months so that the public can make submissions supporting or objecting to the proposed names.

The nine other existing recorded but unofficial geographic names were approved as official by the Board and gazetted on 27 May 2026 (https://gazette.govt.nz/notice/id/2026-ln2831). These are not being consulted on with the seven proposals.

What happens next?

What happens next?

The Board will consider any submissions received for this proposal at its next hui. The outcome will be that either the Board itself or the Minister for Land Information will make the final decision. This page will be updated when the final decision is made.
