What was/is proposed?
The seven proposals were/are to assign as official, locally used geographic names, located at Hobsonville, Auckland: Bruce Point, Cochrane Gully, Gunn Point, Isitt Gully, Launch Bay, Monterey Park and Pottery Creek. Cochrane Gully, Gunn Point and Isitt Gully were declined by the Board on 13 October 2026. Final decisions have yet to be made for Bruce Point, Launch Bay, Monterey Park and Pottery Creek.
Report
At its hui on 30 April 2026 the Board considered this report which included the seven proposals (plus nine other proposals considered separately). The seven proposals are notified for two months so that the public can make submissions supporting or objecting to the proposed names.
The nine other existing recorded but unofficial geographic names were approved as official by the Board and gazetted on 27 May 2026 (https://gazette.govt.nz/notice/id/2026-ln2831). These are not being consulted on with the seven proposals.

What happens next?
The Board considered submissions received for all seven proposals at its 13 October 2026 hui. For the three place names declined by the Board, the process for them concludes and the features remain unnamed. For the remaining four proposals the Minister for Land Information will make the final decisions in 2027. This page will be updated when the final decisions are made.
