Amalgamation Consultation requests

How to submit an Amalgamation Consultation request in Landonline.

Use the Amalgamation Consultation request in Landonline to confirm with LINZ whether an amalgamation condition is practicable.  

This request type is available to users with TA Certification, Web Search, or Dealings access. For details on other available request types, see:

Not a Landonline user?

Most councils and Territorial authorities (TAs) are already signed up to Landonline. Find out how to add a user to your firm’s existing Landonline account:

Before you start

Save any supporting documents, for example scheme plans, as PDF, JPG, or JPEG files. Files must not exceed 10 MB each.

  • You can upload up to 10 files with your request.
  • You can’t upload Word documents or file links.

Create and submit an Amalgamation Consultation request

1. Open Requests app

Select the 9-dot icon at the top left of your Landonline screen to open the app switcher. Then:  

  • select Requests to open the Requests app in your current browser tab
  • select the arrow next to Requests to open the Requests app in a new browser tab.

You can also go directly to the Create request page from the Main menu of all applications. This will open in a new tab.

2. Create new request

Select Create new request in the My requests dashboard.

3. Select Amalgamation Consultation request type

Select request type:

  • Amalgamation Consultation – if you are TA certification user
  • TA Amalgamation Consultation – if you are a Web Search only or Dealings user.

Select Next.

4. Enter request details  

Enter:

  • a Survey number, if relevant
  • your Territorial authority reference or Client reference.

The Survey number and TA/Client Reference fields are optional.

Enter details of your request in the Comment field.

5. Attach supporting documents

Upload a scheme plan and any other relevant supporting documents to your request. You can upload up to 10 files.

Attachments must be:

  • PDF, JPG, or JPEG files
  • maximum 10 MB each.

Drag and drop files into the Attach images box, or select Browse to locate and upload files from your computer.

Uploaded files are listed below the Attach images box. Select X to remove a file.

6. Check contact details  

Your contact details are pre-populated in the Contact details section. Check that the information is correct and update it if needed. You can:

  • change the Requestor to another Landonline user at your firm. Enter their name or user ID and their details will automatically populate the contact details fields.
  • update the contact person’s name and contact details without changing the requestor.

Tip: You can submit a request on behalf of a non-Landonline user by leaving yourself as the requestor and entering their name and contact details into the appropriate fields. The response will be sent to the specified email address and can also be viewed in the My requests and Firm requests dashboards.

7. Submit request  

Select:

  • Send to submit your request to LINZ
  • Discard to delete the request
  • Save as draft to save your progress and return to the request later from the My requests dashboard. You can edit or delete a draft request.

Once you Send or Save the request, a request ID is assigned. Use this ID if you need to follow up on your request with LINZ after it's submitted.

What happens after you submit the request

After you submit the request, it appears in the My requests and Firm requests dashboards with a status of Pending.

LINZ will process your request and may contact you if further information is required. A LINZ Customer Regulatory Specialist will review the information and advise whether the amalgamation condition is practicable.

The response is sent to the email address provided in the request and can also be viewed in Landonline.

Once the response has been sent, the request status changes to Complete in the Requests dashboard.

Open the request to view the response in Landonline.

Update a submitted request

We can add supporting documents or make changes to your submitted request while its status is Pending.

Email customersupport@linz.govt.nz and include:  

  • the Request ID  
  • any comments you want added to the request  
  • supporting documents in PDF, JPG, or JPEG format.  

You can also email to request that a pending request be withdrawn.
