Disposal of surplus Crown land
LINZ administers two areas of land on Te Motu Kairangi (Miramar Peninsula).
We are exploring disposal options for an area of Crown land (3.4ha) on the western boundary of the Mātai Moana reserve.
The reserve was established following the transfer of 72 hectares of former Defence Force land from LINZ to DOC in mid-2026
We continue to work through the disposal process for land at the former Wellington Prison at Mount Crawford.
This land was formerly managed by the Department of Corrections and is not part of the Mātai Moana reserve.
