Ships of the His Majesty’s Royal Navy became home for many New Zealand sailors.

Spending prolonged periods at sea, in close quarters with crewmates, was a way of life for sailors during WWI. The crew became family, the ship became home, and both stayed in memory for the remainder of the sailor’s life.
