New Landonline digital certificate downloader – DC loader v4

You’ll notice a big change next time you need to download a new Landonline digital certificate (DC).

We are now using a web-based digital certificate downloader – DC loader v4 – from our trusted provider Entrust. This website will look a bit different from what you’re used to at LINZ.

DC loader v4 can be used on any operating system, for example Windows or macOS, as it runs entirely through your web browser. The DC loader being browser-based also means you don’t need to download software to download your DC – making the process much easier.

Amalgamating shares on a title

We sometimes receive transfers with added text requesting that the share being transferred is combined with an existing share in the title.

This will only be appropriate if the resulting ownership of those shares is held by one individual (i.e. a sole tenancy, or an individual tenant in common receiving another share).

It is not possible to request the combination of joint tenancies.

By way of example: A&B own jointly as to a ½ share. They jointly receive a transfer of the other ½ share. The resulting ownership will be A&B as to ½ and A&B as to ½.

For a valid joint tenancy, the tenants need to derive their interests at the same time and from the same transfer instrument. A request to amalgamate shares in this scenario cannot be acted on, and a transfer with such a request will be requisitioned.

In the example above, if the remaining owners wanted to disestablish the tenancy in common, they can be included as transferors in the transfer instrument (as to their existing share). That is:

• A&B included as transferors as to their ½ share, together with the owners of the other ½ share
• A&B as transferees
• the resulting owners would then be A&B (as joint tenants).

New option for sending requests in Landonline Survey

You can now access Create request from the CSD header in survey capture.

Left-click the 3-dot menu at the right of the header, then select Create request to open Requests in a new tab.

You can still also access Requests from your My work page, via:

• the App switcher at the top left of the page
• the Main menu at the top right of the page.
