Add, edit or remove a title

Before you start

There are multiple ways you can add the affected titles for an instrument.

You can affect up to:

• 300 titles per instrument, or
• 350 unique titles per dealing. 

For dealings where you need to include more than these limits, contact Customer Support on 0800 665 463.

Enter title references

Type in, or copy and paste, title references into the Add titles field. You can add multiple titles; just separate each reference with a comma or a space.

You can paste up to a maximum of 300 title references per instrument.

Select Add to link them to the instrument.

Copy multiple titles from Web Search

You can copy a list of title references from your search results in Web Search.

Tick the checkboxes next to all of the title references you wish to copy.

Select Copy title references icon. This icon is only visible if you've ticked the checkboxes of titles.

Return to your dealing and paste the title references into the Add titles field.

Copy multiple titles from documents

You can also copy and paste multiple titles from other sources, such as documents and spreadsheets.

Invalid title reference warning

If you add wrong information a warning will appear under the Add title field.

Clear the incorrect information out of the field and select the X on the warning to dismiss it.

Remove title references

To remove titles, hover over the end of the title row to bring up the X and click on it.

Add existing titles from an instrument

To quickly add existing titles from the previous instrument in the dealing, select Add all available titles above the Add titles field.

Link pre-allocated titles from a plan

If you've added a plan for deposit to the dealing, you can add the pre-allocated titles for these instruments:

• Order for New Certificate of Title (OCTN)
• Application for Deposit of Unit Title Plan (UAPP).

Select Link pre-allocated titles.

The affected titles will appear under the Add titles field.

Advanced title selection

For more ways to add titles to your instrument, select Advanced title selection.

A panel opens to help you select titles from other instruments or generate new titles.

Select X to close the panel.

Use the arrows at the top of the panel to move between the instruments in your dealing.

Filter your title search

Enter a title reference into the filter to search for a particular title or titles. Filtering is useful when dealing with lots of titles and you need to check if a title has been affected or not. 

You can also filter your search by hiding any unlinked titles that haven't been affected for the instrument. 

Toggle on Hide unlinked titles.

Select titles

Tick the checkboxes to affect a title to the instrument. To affect all of the titles, select the top checkbox next to the Title column header. 

Add titles

Select +Add title to open the Add titles field.

Enter title references into the Add titles field.

Search for titles from an instrument

Select +Search by instrument to link titles from another instrument.

Enter an instrument number into the Search by instrument field.

As you type instruments will appear below. Select the relevant instrument.

Titles from that instrument will appear in a list below the search.

If there's only a single match affected titles will appear with no need to select the instrument.

Tick the checkbox next to the titles you wish to add to your instrument.

Then select Link selected titles to add the titles to your instrument.

Copy titles from other instruments

Select the Copy selection button to copy titles from other instruments in your dealing.

Use the drop-down arrow to find the relevant instrument.

Then select Apply to add the titles.

Generate a new title

You can generate new titles in this panel for instruments that are capable of resulting in the issue of a new title. 

Most common instruments include:

• Order for New Certificate of Title (OCTN)
• Transfer (T)
• Application for Deposit of Unit Title Plan (UAPP).

Select Generate new title.

A Number of titles to generate field will appear.

Enter a number from 1 to 99. 

Then select Generate.

All new titles will have a status of Pending.

Once you've completed all your actions in this panel, select Done.
