Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand was formed in 1996 following the restructure of the Department of Survey and Land Information.

Toitū Te Whenua supports the work of the emergency services by making available copies of maps and charts to operational teams engaged in search and rescue, civil defence and emergency response work.
